If you’re like me and have a low-powered glass electric stovetop, it makes home canning a real pain because the stovetop range will not get high enough in temp to boil a water bather or operate a pressure canner. So what do I use?
I use a portable butane burner, also known as a camping stove, and use it safely on my countertop. This model is an upgrade from the one I use, with a brass burner guaranteeing years of easy use. I use it regularly in my kitchen when water bathing and pressure canning. A full canister of butane will last a full 90-minute processing session, including the start up and venting stage.
